Cape Marine Academy

Welcome to Cape Marine Academy

Loading your Marine Academy experience

We are a preparation academy, not a recruiter. Legitimate cruise lines pay you, you never pay them for a job.

The honest guide

STCW and the documents you need

There is a correct order to all of this, and getting it wrong costs time and money. Here is the truth, plainly, and how we help you get it right.

What is STCW Basic Safety Training?

STCW Basic Safety Training is the international safety qualification every seafarer must hold before joining a ship, including hospitality crew on cruise ships. It covers personal survival, fire prevention and fire fighting, elementary first aid, and personal safety. It is issued only by training centres approved by SAMSA, the South African Maritime Safety Authority.

Cape Marine Academy is a preparation academy. We do not issue STCW certificates and we are not an accredited STCW provider. We guide you to the right SAMSA approved partner, prepare you for everything around it, and in the Boarding Pathway we coordinate it for you. The certificate always comes from the accredited centre.
